The celebration of May as Asian Heritage Month begins this week. Officially recognized in Canada since 2002, this is a time to prayerfully reflect on the contributions of Asian Canadians to Canadian society. Asian Heritage Month gives us an opportunity to thoughtfully consider the experiences of peoples from the rich diversity of cultures and heritages throughout the continent of Asia, as well as to celebrate and honour the people of Asian descent in Canada.
We welcome to the pulpit, Julian Munro. Julian (they/them) is a student at Emmanuel College in Toronto, and a candidate for ministry in the United Church. They work with Affirm United/S’affirmer Ensemble on the “Re-Affirm Project”- a new initiative to create resources for communities of faith about religious trauma.

Moose Hide Campaign Day National Rally at Queen’s Park in Toronto on Thursday, May 14. 12:00- 1:30 p.m. The United Church of Canada contingent will be meeting at the southeast corner of the park, near Queen’s Park Crescent East and Wellesley Street West at 11:45 a.m. We look forward to standing with you on May 14 as we walk together toward healing and restoration.
The Moose Hide Campaign is more than a day; it is a mobilization against the ongoing national crisis of violence facing Indigenous women, girls, and 2S and LGBTQIA+ people. Indigenous women, who make up just 5 percent of the female population, are disproportionately affected by gender-based violence in Canada. These are not just statistics. This is a reality we cannot ignore.
